(CNN) -- What divorce rumors?

Say what you will about superstar couple Beyonce and Jay Z, but they appear determined to keep fans guessing. The conversation swirling around them has gone from "Are they over?" to "Are they overjoyed about an addition to their family?"

As the pair wrapped up their very successful "On The Run" tour in Paris over the weekend, there was speculation that Beyonce may be pregnant with their second child, a marked turn from the breakup chatter that surrounded the pair at the start of the tour in June.

So how did the narrative switch so rapidly? Apparently with very little help from Mr. and Mrs. Carter.

Much as they did with the split rumors, the couple have remained mum about a potential new baby. Instead, fans have turned to their "On the Run" concerts for clues, indulging in a guessing game that's continued through the very last show.

Rumors of trouble in paradise started after the now infamous elevator incident in May. After Beyonce's sister, Solange, was shown on surveillance video fighting her rapper brother-in-law after the Met Gala in New York City, there were whispers that divorce was on the horizon.

Yet Beyonce and Jay never responded directly to the gossip about a breakup. Instead, they released a statement following the elevator incident saying they were united as a family and announced their first joint tour with a star-studded trailer portraying them as an outlaw couple.

Incidentally, the controversy did nothing to hamper the launch of their stadium tour; "On the Run," which had 16 dates in North America and two in Paris, reportedly went on to gross more than $100 million.

As the pair wound their way through their dates, every onstage interaction was picked apart for hints about their offstage relationship. There was the time when Beyonce changed the lyrics to her song "Resentment," about a faithless lover, to say "been ridin' with you for 12 years" -- the amount of time she and her husband have been together.

She then stepped it up another notch with a remix of her song "Flawless," in which she sang, "Of course sometimes s**t goes down when there's a billion dollars on an elevator." (Beyonce and Jay Z have consistently been named among the top-earning couples in the music industry.)

Concertgoers were left to make their own decisions about what, if anything, was happening behind the scenes. During the show, scenes of the pair as outlaws flashed on the screen along with the words, "This Is Not Real." During their rendition of "Young Forever," the couple shared never-before-seen video of their wedding, family time and vacations with the words, "This Is Real."

At the same time, there were reports -- like a July item in the New York Post titled "Inside the crumbling marriage of Jay Z and Beyonce" -- which claimed that the pair were now more business arrangement than happy couple.

But apparently someone forgot to tell the Carters that.

They appeared to be very much together in August when Beyonce gave an energetic 16-minute performance at the MTV Video Music Awards as her husband and daughter, Blue Ivy, supported her from the audience. Jay Z and Blue then took the stage to present the singer with the MTV Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, and the family shared a tender hug on stage, causing even further head-scratching among some fans.

And then came their last "On the Run" show in Paris on September 13. Us Weekly reports that Beyonce got emotional, wiping away tears as she said to her husband, "I love you so much" before asking the audience to "Give it up for Mr. Carter" (which is Jay Z's legal name).

There has been no word from the Carter camp as to whether there is a blessed event on the way or not. That's not unexpected, given that the couple have been notoriously private about their personal life, taking years to even acknowledge that they were a couple. They have been only slightly more open during their six-year marriage.

The only sure thing is that fans will be able to see more of them on September 20. That's when their HBO "On the Run" concert special premieres.

Stewart to Paltrow: Don't try to be me

It seems Martha Stewart isn't the biggest fan of Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle brand GOOP. In a recent interview with Net-A-Porter's Porter magazine, Stewart commented that the Oscar winner "just needs to be quiet. She's a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart." A rep for Stewart confirmed that the quote was taken from a 12-page feature in the magazine's fall 2014 issue. A rep for Paltrow didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Danity Kane's reunion is over as quickly as it began. The girl group got back together in 2013 after a four-year hiatus, but by August its bond was broken again because of an alleged dispute between Aubrey O'Day, left, and Dawn Richard. O'Day has claimed Richard punched her in the back of the head without provocation, while Richard says O'Day and another member were cutting her out of the group.

On August 1, Trump protested via Twitter about two American Ebola patients returning to the United States. Whoopi Goldberg responded on her show that while Trump is her friend, "that was a stupid comment. Do your homework Donald. Just do your homework."

A recent TMZ video appeared to show actor Orlando Bloom and pop singer Justin Bieber having an altercation at a bar in Ibiza, Spain, but neither star has commented on the report. That hasn't stopped the world from imagining that these two had a heated throwdown though.

Kim Kardashian didn't mention actress Adrienne Bailon by name when she went on a Twitter rant July 29, but it was pretty obvious whom she was speaking of. Bailon, who used to date Kim's brother Rob, spoke ill of the past relationship in a magazine interview. Kim then tweeted: "Funny how she says being with a Kardashian hurt her career yet the only reason she has this article is bc she is talking about a Kardashian ... So sad when people try to kick my brother when he is down #FamilyForever."

Freddie Prinze Jr. worked with Kiefer Sutherland on the Fox series "24" in 2010 and said his experience with the actor was so horrible he wanted to quit acting. Yet while Prinze called Sutherland "the most unprofessional dude in the world," Sutherland responded via his rep saying that he enjoyed working with his former co-star.

Rappers Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea were thought to have beef after Minaj made a pointed statement at the BET Awards about writing her own rhymes. Some took that as a not-so-subtle jab at Azalea, but both rappers have tried to squash rumors of a feud.

When Angela Bassett was asked about casting Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, in the biopic she's directing about the late singer, Bassett responded that she never thought to do it for several reasons, "one being that (Brown's) not an actress." Bobbi Kristina did not take kindly to the comment and tweeted some disparaging words about the actress.

Rihanna's bare-it-all style is catching flak from the ladies of TLC. "Every time that I see you, you don't have to be naked," T-Boz said during a recent interview with an Australian media outlet. "We became the biggest-selling girl group of all time with our clothes on." Rihanna's response? A series of pointed subtweets and a new Twitter header that shows a topless TLC.

Charlie Sheen is also unhappy with Rihanna. Sheen tweeted that the singer declined to meet him and his gal pal when they all landed at the same restaurant in May. The actor went on a bit of a Twitter rant saying, "it was a pleasure NOT meeting you." We think Rihanna might have responded when she tweeted, "If that old queen don't get ha diapers out of a bunch..."

Katy Perry got a tongue-lashing from Miley Cyrus after she dissed the younger singer's hygiene on an Australian morning show March 4. The two have appeared to reconcile -- on Twitter, of course.

An argument on the set of "In Living Color" has apparently put Rosie Perez and Jennifer Lopez at odds for the past 20 years. As Perez alleges in a new memoir, Lopez "went off (like) some ghetto biatch, screaming and pounding her chest" while they were working together on the show. Perez claims Lopez made "disparaging comments" about her even after leaving the show.

Drake was the subject of a glowing profile in a February issue of Rolling Stone, but one quote had the Canadian rapper seeing red. The magazine claimed Drake was critical of Kanye West's album "Yeezus," which Drake said never happened. To add insult to injury, Rolling Stone took the cover from Drake at "the last minute," the rapper tweeted. "I'm disgusted with that. RIP to Phillip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil," he said on February 12. In the end, Drake wound up deleting his comments and apologizing.

The Jonas Brothers may still be family, but the trio could no longer take being bandmates. A rep for the group told CNN on October 10 that there is "a deep rift within the band. There was a big a disagreement over their music direction."

The beef between Lady Gaga and Kelly Osbourne dates back to an open letter Gaga wrote, accusing Kelly of being a bully. When Kelly O. saw that Gaga had offered her a birthday cake on October 27, she tweeted, "Not to be ungrateful but why would you send me a birthday cake via my MOTHER in a country half the (world) away? ... #EatMyS***."

Kanye West has given Jimmy Kimmel the rap feud he's always wanted. After Kimmel poked fun at West's interview with the BBC -- in which the entertainer called himself the No. 1 rock star on the planet -- West went to Twitter to air his profane grievances (in all caps, of course). The two later made amends with a televised sitdown.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar not only set Twitter on fire with his guest verses on Big Sean's song "Control," he also stoked the flames of a bit of a hip-hop beef. Lamar called out his fellow lyricists to step up their game, which irritated some and led to rapper Joell Ortiz recording a rebuttal.

After her heart attack in 2012, Rosie O'Donnell received support from an unlikely source: Donald Trump. The two engaged in a pretty high-profile feud in the past, with her calling him a "snake-oil salesman" and Trump retorting that she was a "loser."

Onetime friends Denise Richards and Heather Locklear hit a major impasse after the former started dating the latter's ex, Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora. In interviews, Richards denied that she and Locklear were still friends at the time she began seeing Sambora.

As a teen star, Hilary Duff reportedly dated heartthrob Aaron Carter before he broke up with her to get with Lindsay Lohan -- and then he tossed Lohan aside to win back Duff. The actress told People magazine in 2007 that she and Lohan had made peace.

Yeah, we couldn't believe it either. MC Hammer reportedly took offense to Jay-Z guest-rapping in a Kanye West song ("So Appalled") that "Hammer went broke so you know I'm more focused/I lost 30 mill so I spent another 30/Cuz unlike Hammer 30 mill can't hurt me." Hammer took it to where all celebs take their beefs now -- Twitter -- and released a diss track, "Better Run Run."

Kanye West and Taylor Swift had one of the greatest celeb feuds of all time. The rapper famously grabbed the singer's mic at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. He later apologized, and she seemed to accept his apology via her song "Innocent."

It appears that rapper Lil' Kim has not taken too kindly to what she views as Nicki Minaj's lack of respect and similar style with the colored wigs and sexually explicit lyrics. The pair have traded insults all over the media.

It's a case of he said/she said/he said. Eminem set it off after he claimed to have had a torrid dating relationship with singer Mariah Carey, who denied it. Her husband, Nick Cannon, even offered to defend her honor by meeting the rapper in the ring.

Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton helped to coin the term "frenemies" after their very public bust-up in 2004. The former "Simple Life" co-stars went on to make up two years later.

Oprah Winfrey was reportedly annoyed by David Letterman's constant joking references to her name when he hosted the Academy Awards in 1995. The late-night talk-show host told "The Daily Show's" Jon Stewart he had also once played a practical joke on Winfrey, convincing a waiter that she had agreed to pick up his tab. They have since made peace.

Gossip blogger Perez Hilton claimed Will.i.am and his security guards attacked him at an awards show over some unkind words he had written about the musician's Black Eyed Peas bandmate Fergie. Will.i.am denied he had anything to do with it.

Tom Cruise got on Brooke Shields' bad side by decrying her use of medication to treat postpartum depression. Shields responded with an op-ed in The New York Times, and Cruise later apologized for his remarks.

'Django' actress handcuffed by police

Los Angeles (CNN) -- "Django Unchained" actress Daniele Watts defended her refusal to show her ID to Los Angeles police before they handcuffed her last week.

The African-American actress and her white boyfriend accused police of racism for questioning them in what they said was only a public display of affection.

"I believe in America and what it stands for," Watts said Monday in an interview on CNN's "New Day."

Police responded to a citizen complaint that "a male white and female black were involved in a sexual act inside a Mercedes" outside the gate of CBS Studio Center on Thursday, according to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Legal experts said the officer had the right to request identification if he suspected illegal behavior, but audio of part of the encounter with police, published by TMZ, revealed that Watts did not believe so.

"Somebody called, which gives me the right to be here," the unidentified Los Angeles police officer is heard saying to Watts. "So It gives me the right to identify you by law."

"Do you know how many times the cops have been called just for being black?" she responded.

"Who brought up the race card?" the officer said.

"I'm bringing it up because I have every right to be here," Watts said.

When the officer again asked for her ID, the actress responded, "You can take me down to the court office, and I can make a scene about it. And you know what? I have a publicist, and I work as an actor in this studio."

The officer, who patrols a neighborhood home to many A-list celebs, including George Clooney and Miley Cyrus, seemed unmoved by the prospect. "I'm mildly interested you have a publicist, but I'm going to get your ID," he told her.

"No, I'm going to say no, and if you'd like my ID you can say that I'm resisting arrest," she said.

"There's no resisting, you're just interfering," he said. "I have probable cause; we received a radio call."

Watts called her father. "I can't make out with my boyfriend in front of my f--king studio?" she is heard yelling to her father. "I don't have to give him my ID because it's my right to sit on the f--king street corner and make out with my boyfriend. That's my right."

"Keep yelling, it really helps," the officer then said.

Watts was eventually handcuffed and placed in a patrol car. She was released a few minutes later when her boyfriend relented and gave the officer her ID.

A Los Angeles police representative told CNN on Sunday that officers from its North Hollywood precinct were responding to a citizen complaint.

"There was an indication on the radio call that a male white and female black were involved in a sexual act inside a Mercedes with the vehicle door open," Officer Sally Madera said. "Two people were briefly detained, but it was revealed no crime had been committed."

Watts' boyfriend -- Brian James Lucas, better known as celebrity chef Cheffy Be*Live -- wrote in a Facebook post that police "saw a tatted RAWKer white boy and a hot bootie shorted black girl and thought we were a HO (prostitute) & a TRICK (client)."

The couple posted a short video clip and several photos showing Watts in handcuffs talking to police. One image shows a cut on her wrist, which she said was caused by the tight handcuffs.

Watts, who acts in the FX show "Partners," said the officers "accosted me and forced me into handcuffs" after she refused "to agree that I had done something wrong by showing affection, fully clothed, in a public place."

Lucas said when an officer asked for their identifications, he showed his that but Watts refused "to give it because they had no right to do so."

"So they handcuffed her and threw her roughly into the back of the cop car until they could figure out who she was," he wrote. "In the process of handcuffing her, they cut her wrist, which was truly NOT COOL!!!"

She was released "quite quickly when they realized we were right outside CBS and that she was a celebrity and I was a celeb chef," Lucas wrote. "Before they figured out who she was they were threatening calling an ambulance and drugging her for being psychologically unstable, SO NOT COOL WHATSOEVER! "

Watts and Lucas said they initially decided to forget about the incident, but then they decided they needed to speak up.

"We still forgive, love and bless them ... just not putting up with this for our own freedom and heart space," Lucas wrote.

The couple has contacted lawyers, the American Civil Liberties Union and the NAACP, he said. "Our publicist has us in contact with media about it, too, and we're supposed to hear back."

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed it is conducting an internal investigation.

Watts, a native of Atlanta, made her feature film debut in 2012 as Coco in the Oscar-nominated "Django Unchained."

(CNN) -- To hear prosecutors tell it, Darrien Hunt lunged at officers with a "samurai-type sword" before he was killed.

To hear his family tell it, police shot the 22-year-old several times while he was running away. An independent autopsy proves he was shot from behind, his family's attorney said.

And while there's no consensus about what happened last Wednesday morning, the Utah case is already drawing comparisons to the police shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

Hunt's mother said she believes race played a role in her son's death.

"They killed my son because he's black," Susan Hunt told CNN affiliate KSL. "No white boy with a little sword would they shoot while he's running away."

But the Utah County Attorney's Office said there is "currently no indication that race played any role in the confrontation between Mr. Hunt and the police officer."

"Police officers from the Saratoga Springs Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious individual walking around a local business with a 'samurai-type' sword," Chief Deputy Tim Taylor of the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

"When the officers made contact with Mr. Hunt, preliminary evidence suggests that Mr. Hunt brandished the sword and lunged toward the officers with the sword, at which time Mr. Hunt was shot."

Hunt family attorney Randall Edwards challenged that version of events.

An independent autopsy shows Hunt was shot six times from behind, Edwards told CNN.

"We are not going to release the independent autopsy results or the name of who performed it until the Utah State Medical Examiner releases its results," Edwards said.

The claim that Hunt lunged at officers with the sword "seems to be inaccurate," Edwards said, "based on witnesses who saw him running from police officers and our independent autopsy."

The county attorney's office said the case is under investigation. Two officers have been placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated, KSL said.

"Rest assured that there is more to this story," police said in a statement on their Facebook page. "Many of the details cannot yet be shared due to the ongoing investigation."

Hunt was arrested in January on several charges, including assault, child abuse and intoxication, according to county records.

Edwards said that arrest had nothing to do with last week's shooting, and that Hunt had no history of interactions with the Saratoga Springs Police Department. The arrest came after a fist fight with one of Hunt's siblings, Edwards said, "and since it was his first offense he was able to have it dropped from his record if he pleaded guilty to the charges."

"We don't know exactly what happened, but the fact that a black kid with an Afro was shot while walking down the street by two white officers in a city that is 96% white is concerning," Edwards said. "There are serious questions as to why officers were questioning him and the use of force in this situation."

While some have speculated that race played a role in the shooting deaths of Hunt and Brown, there's one key difference between the two cases: Brown was unarmed when he was shot, and Hunt was reportedly carrying a 3-foot sword around a Panda Express restaurant and other businesses.

"I believe that maybe my son thought, 'Maybe I'll try to get a job at Panda, maybe this sword will impress them,' " Susan Hunt told KSL.

She said that the sword was purchased at a local Asian gift shop and that it could not actually cut anything.

In a statement Monday, Panda Restaurant Group spokesman Thien Ho said the Saratoga Springs location was closed at the time of the shooting.

"We do not have first-hand details of what occurred," Ho said.

CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin said the case, like the Brown shooting, highlights the issue of when police can use deadly force.

Officers are justified in using deadly force, she said, to defend their lives or to stop a fleeing felon whose escape would pose a serious threat to the officer or to the public.

"So when I see this fact pattern where someone may have been shot in the back, that someone must have been committing a violent crime and pose a threat to society, the public, for that officer to be justified in shooting the person," Hostin said. "These cases are very case and fact-specific. But it does seem to odd to me that, if he was running away with this fake sword, that deadly force would be appropriate."

But there are other questions to consider, she said, including whether the sword looked fake.

"Maybe the sword looked to be a real sword," Hostin said. "And was there a violent crime committed with that sword?"
