No. 1: Sandra Bullock's 2013 role in "Gravity" (with George Clooney) came with accolades and a nice paycheck. Forbes estimates the Oscar-nominated feature helped Bullock earn $51 million between June 2013 and June 2014, putting her at the top of Forbes' list of highest-earning actresses. Check out the other top earners:

No. 2: "The Hunger Games" actress Jennifer Lawrence earned $34 million between June 2013 and June 2014 -- not so surprising considering the star's tireless work ethic. In addition to a "Hunger Games" sequel, "Catching Fire" (with Josh Hutcherson), she also starred in "American Hustle" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

No. 3: Jennifer Aniston, here with Jason Bateman in "The Switch," may not be associated with strong showings at the box office, but she's the third highest-earning actress this year. When you combine comedies such as "We're the Millers" with lucrative spokeswoman deals and "Friends" residuals, Aniston pulled in $31 million in the past year.

No. 4: Like Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow is no stranger to being associated with a big brand. It doesn't hurt that the brand is "The Avengers" either. With her work in "Iron Man 3," Paltrow is estimated to have earned $19 million in the past year.

No. 5 (tie): Angelina Jolie has become as famous for her off-screen humanitarian work as she has for her on-screen talent, but the actress can still command a sizable payday. After taking time off for a double mastectomy, Jolie returned to the screen in May with "Maleficent." Forbes estimates that Jolie has earned $18 million within the past year.

No. 5 (tie): Cameron Diaz, second from right, has had a steady stream of work that's added up to about $18 million in the past year. It includes the 2014 comedy "The Other Woman," which also starred Leslie Mann, from left, Nicki Minaj and Kate Upton.

No. 6: Scarlett Johansson is proving herself to be a force at the box office, recently landing at No. 1 with the action flick "Lucy," pictured. Her work in the Marvel movies as Black Widow and endorsement deals also helped her secure a debut spot on Forbes' list of highest-earning actresses. The magazine estimates Johansson made about $17 million in the past year.

No. 7: Amy Adams is everywhere, and her bank account proves it. Over the past year, she's starred in "Man of Steel," "Her" and "American Hustle," pictured, earning around $13 million in the process. To see the rest of the list, visit Forbes.com.

(CNN) -- It pays to be "America's Sweetheart."

Sandra Bullock, who celebrated her 50th birthday in July, earned an estimated $51 million in the past year, according to Forbes magazine. Bullock is at the top of the publication's highest-earning actresses list for 2014.

Forbes, which speaks to agents, producers, lawyers and others in the know to come up with its list, believes that Bullock's hefty payday is due to her Oscar-nominated turn in Alfonso Cuaron's blockbuster "Gravity." After its release in the fall of 2013, the sci-fi thriller went on to earn $716 million worldwide.

Coming in second place is Jennifer Lawrence, star of "The Hunger Games" and "X-Men" franchises, who also squeezes in dramas such as "American Hustle" in her downtime. Forbes estimates the young Oscar winner earned $34 million between June 2013 and June 2014.

In third place is Jennifer Aniston, whose $31 million comes from comedies such as "We're the Millers," "Friends" reruns and endorsement deals.

Forbes notes that while these ladies have earned notable paychecks, the totals are below what the industry's top-earning men have made in the same time period. The publication's list of the top 10 earning actors in the business added up to $419 million, while this year's list of highly paid actresses totals $226 million.

"Bachelor in Paradise" is a new spin-off that lets former "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" contestants try to find love for a second time. Maybe by the end of the series, we'll get to see a "Bachelor in Paradise" couple to match these past "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" romances:

... Josh Murray on the season finale of "The Bachelorette." It remains to be seen if the now-engaged couple will enjoy a happily ever after. In the meantime, let's revisit other "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" couples to see how they fared.

Alex Michel and Amanda Marsh from Season 1 dated almost a year before breaking up. He went on to become a "Romance and Proposal Expert" for Princess Cruises, and she became a registered nurse and a married mom.

Aaron Buerge and Helene Eksterowicz split up five weeks after he proposed on Season 2. He went on to marry another woman in 2009. Burge suffered some financial issues and declared bankruptcy in 2011. In 2013, Eksterowicz got engaged to a consultant for IBM.

Season 3 couple Andrew Firestone and Jen Schefft got engaged, but ultimately found happiness with others. In 2013, Firestone announced that he and wife, model Ivana, were expecting their third child. Schefft went on to be "The Bachelorette" and in 2012 gave birth to her second child with husband Joe Waterman.

Bob Guiney and Estella Gardinier appeared to find love on Season 4 but it didn't last. He married -- and then divorced -- "All My Children" actress Rebecca Budig and according to his website co-hosts a show on Playboy Radio. Gardinier went on to work in sales while living in San Diego.

Jesse Palmer and Jessica Bowlin from Season 5 were a cute couple, but broke up soon after the show ended. Palmer, a former NFL quarterback, snagged a gig as a college football analyst with ESPN and Bowlin finished law school and became a lawyer.

Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado managed to extend their relationship beyond Season 6. The couple never married, but stayed together for five years despite Delgado's being arrested for allegedly assaulting Velvick. Velvick, a pro bass fisherman, has continued to appear on fishing shows. Delgado found work as a real estate agent and in 2010 made headlines after being arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Charlie O'Connell and Sarah Brice from Season 7 dated for two years, broke up, then got back together before breaking up again in 2010. O'Connell has pursued an acting career and appeared in projects including the TV series "Femme Fatales." Brice is a married mom.

Physician Travis Stork and kindergarten teacher Sarah Stone fell for each other in Season 8. Today Stork is a co-host on the show "The Doctors" and married pediatrician Charlotte Brown in 2012. Stone left the classroom for a career in real estate and is a married mother of two.

Prince Lorenzo Borghese selected Jennifer Wilson during Season 9. Like many before them, the pair did not last. Borghese traded on his reported relationship as a descendant of the brother-in-law of Napoleon Bonaparte to write a historical novel titled "The Princess of Nowhere." Wilson is said to have continued her career as a teacher.

Season 10 ended in a proposal for Tessa Horst and Andy Baldwin, though the couple ended their engagement a month after the series finale and called off the relationship entirely a few months later. Baldwin, a U.S. Navy physician, still practices and does humanitarian work around the world. Horst married Tom Pickard in 2013.

On Season 11 Brad Womack pulled a first by deciding not to choose either DeAnna Pappas or Jenni Croft. Womack came back for another season, while Pappas became "The Bachelorette" for Season 4 of that show before marrying Stephen Stagliano in 2011. The couple welcomed their first child, a girl, in February. Croft married John Badolato and the pair welcomed a son in 2011.

Matt Grant didn't win over fans during Season 12 when he selected Shayne Lamas. He struck out for a career in Hollywood, eventually working as a photographer. He's said to now be back in London and involved with charity work. Lamas married Nik Richie, co-founder of the celeb site TheDirty.com. At the start of 2014 Lamas and Richie were expecting their second child, but Lamas suffered a miscarriage at 20 weeks.

Fans were rooting for Jason Mesnick when he chose Melissa Rycroft in season 13. But things took a strange twist: Mesnick confessed on air that he really wanted to be with runner-up Molly Malaney. Mesnick and Malaney married in 2010. In 2013, they added a daughter to their family, which also includes Mesnick's son from a previous relationship. Rycroft appeared on "Dancing With the Stars," did some reporting for "Good Morning America" and in 2009 married Tye Strickland. She gave birth to their daughter in 2011.

Season 14 bachelor Jake Pavelka made one of the all-time most unpopular choices when he selected Vienna Girardi. Their relationship was short-lived. After a stint on "Dancing With the Stars," Pavelka briefly appeared on the soap "The Bold and the Beautiful." Girardi told Radar Online in 2013 that she was "single and really focusing on myself and my career."

Brad Womack returned for Season 15 and proposed to Emily Maynard. The second time was not the charm and the couple soon split. Maynard became "The Bachelorette," where she found -- then lost -- love with that show's winner Jef Holm. Maynard soon moved on to Tyler Johnson, whom she met at church, and married him in June 2014.

Ben Flajnik ended up with Courtney Robertson in Season 16, where Robertson was seen as the villain by many fans. The pair split while the show was airing, got engaged after the finale, then split for good in 2012. In 2013 Flajnik denied rumors that he was dating recently separated reality show star (and Kardashian clan matriarch) Kris Jenner. Robertson is reportedly forging a career as a model.

Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici met and fell in love on "The Bachelor" Season 17. The couple married in January -- on TV, of course.

Juan Pablo Galavis has become one of the most-hated "Bachelors" for some, but he did find a special someone during his time on the show. Galavis handed Nikki Ferrell the final rose, and while he didn't propose to her or tell her he loved her, they are still dating, reportedly.

(CNN) -- In the spinoff "Bachelor in Paradise," ABC has rounded up past "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" contestants to give them a second chance at finding love. (Or is that fame? Perhaps a lucky few will find both.)

With its premiere on Monday night, "Bachelor in Paradise" has established itself as a decent supplement for those craving the real "Bachelor" deal.

Instead of having a gang of suitors compete for the affection of a single person, "Bachelor in Paradise" has everyone date each other. Host Chris Harrison told TVGuide that it's the original concept "times 10, which leads to love triangles, drama and amazing dates."

We'll let viewers decide how "amazing" the dates are, but Harrison did get one thing right: Monday's premiere episode wasn't short on drama or tears. The series kicked off the search for "love" with eight women and six men at "Bachelor in Paradise's" beach house. Each week, new men and women arrive on the set to keep the stakes high.

The first group of 14 spent the hour pairing off -- usually in the ocean -- and the escalating tension led to at least one breakdown in front of a raccoon.

By the end of the episode, two women went home, although one of them decided to flee the Mexican retreat by choice.

Former "Bachelor" contestant Nikki Ferrell -- the one now dating Juan Pablo Galavis -- may have called the series a "train wreck," but for a lot of viewers, that's half the fun.

Watchers at E! and Hollywood Life have deemed "Bachelor in Paradise" worth your time, and Monday's episode earned modest ratings, with 5 million tuning in.

(CNN) -- A Statesville, North Carolina, infant is dead after being left in a hot car last month, and now his parents are under arrest.

Sherrie Tiesha Clay and Shakee Duquan Robinson were arrested Monday on charges of involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse, according to a Statesville police statement.

Police say Clay and Robinson returned home July 27 "with the victim and other children (but) did not remove the infant from the vehicle (for) approximately two hours."

The 4-week-old was discovered by his aunt and rushed to the hospital, where he died.

Investigators announced Monday that the newborn -- whose name has not been released -- died of hyperthermia.

Both parents are being held in the Iredell County Jail on $200,000 bond. It was not immediately clear if they have an attorney. Social Services placed the couple's remaining children in temporary custody.

The Statesville incident comes at a time of heightened attention on children being left in hot cars.

The tragic death of Cooper Harris became international news in June because of the salacious circumstances surrounding the case. Justin Ross Harris pleaded not guilty to murder and child cruelty charges after leaving his 22-month-old son in the backseat of his car for an entire workday in the sweltering Georgia heat.

Harris said he forgot the child was in the car. Investigators say he researched how hot a car needs to be in order to kill a child, and that while his son was dying in the parking lot, Harris was sending explicit text messages to several women.

The Harris case may have brought hot car deaths to the forefront, but it's not a new phenomenon: At least 44 children died in 2013 from heatstroke caused by being left in cars in the United States, according to national nonprofit organization KidsAndCars.org. Over the past decade, the group estimates, there have been at least 388 children who have died of vehicular heatstroke.
